I was rewatching an episode of Boruto so I could get a few screencaps of Kiba to use for fanfic purposes, and this one scene where Akamaru was supposed to be holding onto the bag with a Kurama toy in it, but it turns out he swapped it for a bag with a burger instead has me rolling.

In the course of 20 seconds Kiba goes through the five stages of grief while his dogs are just sassing him. Look at that blep Akamaru gives. He is unbothered. moisturized. happy. in his lane. focused. flourishing.

After many years of attending The Runaway Guys' Thrown Controllers panel, I was finally a contestant! I am so glad I was able to attend this year and also have a short story to tell you all. 💙

So, my husband always comes to the panel with me and gives me his card since he doesn't want to go up on stage. This year, he got the number 123 card, which is a pretty sick number ngl.

I was the third contestant called up to play. I didn't get past the first round sadly, but I was so grateful to have been a part of Thrown Controllers. This is the panel I look forward to the most, so it was such an awesome moment for me!

When I got back to my seat after my turn was over a man walked over and tapped me on the shoulder. He showed me his cell phone screen, and on it was a question for me.

"Will you trade your card for 20 bucks?"

I wasn't going to go up a second time even if 119 was picked, so it was an easy decision for me. I traded him my card for 20 dollars and the panel continued on.

It was a normal enough experience until around 30 minutes before the end of Thrown Controllers. 119 had not been picked yet, and when 118 was called and a Jar Jar cosplayer came up to take his turn I thought it was all over.

But no, as fate would have it, the number 119 was called. It was called as the very next number, in fact. I was actually cracking up with my friends who saw the card for 20 dollar trade as it happened.

When the man who bought my card went up for his turn and continued to win round after round I felt like a Pokémon trainer who just caught a shiny Pokémon with perfect IVs in every stat. He went on to win Thrown Controllers, which put a huge smile on my face since I played a part.

Thrown Controllers ended with me feeling on top of the world. The person who used my card ended up winning it all, and I walked out 20 dollars richer. I was on cloud nine while waiting to talk with Chuggaaconroy and ProtonJon after the show.

I talked with Chugga first and told him what had happened. He told me he used a randomizer so it was purely luck that the number 119 was chosen after 118 was called. He said that Jon would get a kick out of the story, so I should tell him next.

When I told ProtonJon about everything he said, "Wait, I have something to show you." Apparently Slowbeef, the man who bought card number 119 from me, had left a DVD behind the curtain sometime during the panel.

ProtonJon then pulled the DVD out from his bag and showed me the note that Slowbeef had left inside of it. "Pick 119! - Beef (JK love ya bud)."

I started laughing way too hard and seriously thought I was in a fever dream at this point. I felt like the stars aligned today, and I was able to be a part of something big. This has been the best MAGFest ever.

thought i would share a christmas andreil fic i published! my first piece finished in a long time, and i’m proud of it simply for that—very happy to have some writing motivation back.

premise: i wanted to write neil and the monsters getting each other gifts, and as someone notoriously bad at giving gifts, i think neil is too (or at least he’s unaccustomed to it). but hey, gift-giving is an acquired skill, right? mostly fluff for this here winter season because andreil are cold and deserve cuddles

Before I had a smartphone I used to MapQuest my way to anime conventions. The very first time I drove myself to Lancaster I ended up taking a wrong turn on the way back home, so I ended up on a different highway. I lived in New Jersey at the time so I told myself that if I kept on going north and east I'd make my way back home eventually. I bullshitted my way back to the New Jersey border by following road signs and made it to a highway that I recognized.

However, before I made it back to Jersey I was stopped by a cop on a Pennsylvania highway for not going fast enough. I was still in my cosplay at the time, so that was a fun interaction. I had to explain to the cop what an anime convention was and why I was out driving this late a night while in costume. I did manage to make my way back home though, lol.

I didn't get a smartphone until the mid 2010s, so I went to a few conventions using only MapQuest and road signs. I navigated my way back home from Otakon back in 2015 when it was still in Baltimore using only street signs. If you end up lost on the road and don't have access to a GPS, I highly recommend taking a second to thing about which direction your destination is from your starting point (like how New Jersey is north of Maryland), and then follow road signs that say you're going in that direction!

There's also YouTube channels where there's a camera set up on the dashboard of a car and they will drive to a specific destination. The video shows you what turns to take on the highway to get to different cities and towns. I used to watch videos like these before I drove to any new location so I would know what the highways looked like before I drove on them!
